E3 2010: N3DS Info
So the biggest Nintendo E3 announcement, apart from all the games, was the Nintendo 3ds handheld. This will be the successor to the Nintendo DSi, and claims to give us 3D gaming, on the move, without the need to ware those annoying 3D cardboard glasses. Although that’s not all this portable device does, so keep reading to find out all the need to know info from Nintendo’s latest handheld.
Ok so there is a lot of info to get through on the up and coming latest handheld platform from Nintendo so lets just get straight to the points shall we? The first thing to notice is that at the moment Nintendo are showing three colours of this on there web site. These colours are, red, black and a type of emerald green (or blue if I’m coloured blind). Whether or not all three of these colours will be at launch remains to be seen – remember when they showed many different colours of the Wii console.
Right I’m just going to list off the rest of the features now as there is plenty to go through:
Size (when closed) – 5.3 inches wide, 2.9 inches long,ŀ.8 inches tall
Weight – about 8 ounces
Top Screen – Only the top screen will be used for 3D gaming and is a 3.53 inch wide-screen LCD display with an 800×240 pixel resolution. Apart from gaming you will also be able to view 3D movies as well!!!!!
Touch screen – will come in at 3.02 inch LCD with 320×240 pixel resolution.
Cameras – One camera on the inside and 2 cameras on the outside at (0.3 Mega) pixel resolution. Not only that but you will also be able to take 3D photos too!!!!
N3DS Game Card – 2 GB max at launch (Does this mean it could be expandable?)
Wireless Communication – Supports IEEE 802.11 with enhanced security (WPA/WPA2). It will also connect automatically to the internet or other N3DS’s in the area while not in use i.e. sleep mode.
Game Controls – The usual touch screen, digital controls, and the new slide pad which offers 360-degree analog input. You will also have one inner camera, two outer cameras, motion sensor and gyro sensor – so that’s almost everything catered for then.
Other Input Controls – The other control is the most important, the 3D depth slider. This controls the amount of 3D depth that you want to see in your gameplay.
So that’s more or less the system specs and everything you need to know. The N3DS will also backwards compatible with previous NDS’s and also has a slot for SD memory cards, which could become a great bonus feature.
So after taking all that in you will be wandering what games have been confirmed, well let me tell of the one’s that Nintendo have confirmed;
Kid Icarus: Uprising
Nintendogs + Cats
The Legend of Zelda: carina of Time 3D
Animal Crossing
Mario Kart
Paper Mario
PilotWings Resort
Starfox 64 3D
Steel Diver
The above is not too bad a line up for starters, although a lot are either re-releases except in 3D or what can only be described as possible sequels. There are still a few that catch my eye though and hope will be available on release.
If you think the above game list was good, or you were not that fussed, then the current list of 3rd party titles should be enough to get your palms sweating. So how about the following:
DJ Hero 3D
The Sims 3
Professor Layton and the Mask of Miracle (Title not final)
Ridge Racer
Kingdom of Hearts
Dead or AliveŃD (Yes I know what the pervs among you are thinking)
Samurai Warriors 3D
Battle of Giants: Dinosaur Strike
Hollywood 61
Codename: Chocobo Racing 3D
Super Street Fighter IV 3D Edition (Title not final)
Tom Clancy’s Splinter Cell Chaos Theory
Tom Clancy’s Ghost Recon
Resident Evil Revelations
Hideo Kojima’s Metal Gear Solid Snake Eater 3D “The Naked Sampleâ€
There you have it, all the info so far that I have been able to collect on the N3DS, and boy does it make for some mouth watering reading. Let’s hope there will be a 3D grand theft auto: China town wars type game. It does seem that developers will be able to really let their imaginations run wild as well, especially with the various types of input. I can’t really see this as a great option for watching movies on though, let alone 3D ones, but I suppose it will keeps kids quiet.
There is one more bit of information I should let out to all you handheld fans…… That according to Industry Gamers the N3DS will be launched worldwide by the 31st March 2011. That’s what Reggie told them in an interview at E3 and also that the current design is not 100 percent final.
So are you going to get a N3DS on release?
What do you think of the initial game line-up?
Would you change anything about the current design?
